Every performance environment tells a story. Behind every match, training session, tactical adjustment, player decision, and coaching intervention, there are patterns, interactions, and moments that shape performance outcomes. Over time, one question emerged: how can performance analysis become more structured, meaningful, and connected to the realities of sports? This question laid the groundwork for the performance analysis model, known as the Sports Performance Analysis Model (S-PAM). Developed by Sam Sedghinia through years of observation, coaching, analysis, education, and reflection, S-PAM focuses on understanding performance within sport environments. His final presentation during the ADVANCED COACHING DIPLOMA (ACD) program at the Canadian Sports Institute—entitled Performance Analysis in Youth Soccer—was fundamental in designing this structured sports performance analysis model based on logic, mathematics, and statistics. The primary aim was to establish a framework that integrates coaching and data integration, encompassing performance data, decision-making, coaching processes, and genuine competitive environments into one coherent system. As the concept matured, it became evident that S-PAM should not exist in isolation from coaching practice; it is essential for supporting learning, communication, adaptation, and performance improvement in practical and understandable ways. This belief guided the framework's development, emphasizing structure, context, and applied decision-making. The first practical application, SOCCER-PAM, is a soccer-specific adaptation of S-PAM, showcasing how this performance analysis model can be utilized within team environments, match analysis, tactical planning, player development, and performance workflows. However, the vision extends beyond one sport. The long-term goal is to cultivate a growing ecosystem of sport-specific models, such as BASEBALL-PAM, VOLLEYBALL-PAM, and others, which reflect the unique realities of different sports' environments. We invite coaches from all sports to assist in adapting S-PAM for their disciplines and to continue as S-PAM Developers in this evolving field. The ongoing management of workshops, educational activities, and development initiatives related to S-PAM is overseen by the Sports Coaching Centre. Through education, collaboration, and practical application, the Sports Coaching Centre is dedicated to the continued growth of this framework and its contributions to performance analysis.
